My new skincare routine.

(I accidentally hit publish, so there may be a post that just says “My”. Disregard it.)

I have recently been breaking out a lot lately. It could be because I keep touching my face due to allergies, it could be the fact that I was always too tired to wash my face regularly, or it could be due to the fact that I haven’t been eating too healthy in the past two or so months.

Whatever it is, I was tired of having a layer of concealer all over my face, because it just wear off by the end of the day.

So I realized what I needed to do.
I’m now on one of my health food kicks, which I hope to stay on over the summer.
And I’ve changed my skincare routine.

I’ve paired an exfoliator with a toner/astrigent with a spot treatment with a gentle lotion.

I exfoliate with either my Neutrogena Wave Duo or #1 in the Proactiv system. Exfoliators buff away dead skin cells and ultimately soften your face. Your dead skin, which is the surface skin, holds many toxins that your pores have taken in throughout the day.

The toner I use is also alternating—I switch between Proactiv’s #2 or Clean & Clear astrigent. These are VERY important in the morning. Put on a toner before you put on your makeup, because now that your pores are cleaned out, this closes them up. Closed pores are very important throughout the day, because then less toxins and chemicals and dirt ans oil can get in. The less you absorb, the less acne you’ll get.

For a spot treatment I use the Proactiv refining mask. I use this every single day if I have a blemish, until that blemish is gone. And slowly but surely, it is erased. Spot treatments suck all oil and moisture from the applied area, so only put it on the blemish and in the very close surrounding area; if you have dry skin, this may be difficult for you. My advice is to either moisturise before this OR find a gentle one/one for dry skinned people.

Last is the moisturizer. I use Hope in a Jar by Philosophy. Their skincare products are fantastic [my mother is a Philosophy junkie and owns one of nearly everything Philosophy] and they’re made with the consumer, not the industry in mind. I typically use the regular HiaJ at night and the SPF one in the morning. Stay away from the SPF one if you have oily or sensitive skin, because its consistency is basically if you put olive oil on cottage cheese. O.o So if you have sensitive or oily skin and are interested in this product, definitely avoid the one with the little sun on it. The regular HiaJ is just like a semithick lotion.

And my last word of advice; DRINK WATER. Water is so good for your skin. Reach for water rather than your regular soda or lemonade. It’s far better for you, and will help clear up your skin.
